About Us

Our Vision: A healthy and safe community free of substance misuse

Drug Free Tipton is all about prevention. Our goal is to lower substance misuse rates in Tipton County by stopping the problem before it starts. We identify community gaps and collaborate with community members to create solutions. We are proud to say that we have brought in over $3 million in funding, but more importantly, we celebrate the fact that we have seen a drop in substance misuse rates in our youth since Drug Free Tipton’s establishment.

Drug Free Tipton is a non-profit coalition of individuals, government bodies, and organizations uniting to reduce underage drinking, tobacco use, marijuana use, and prescription drug misuse in Tipton County. We recognize that effective substance misuse prevention requires the participation of all key sector stakeholders in a community working together and utilizing environmental strategies to achieve successful population-level change.

"In the U.S., 18-25 year olds have the highest rates of opioid misuse and young Americans are especially vulnerable to misunderstanding the risks associated with addiction and the dangerous spiral down from prescription to illicit misuse. Opioids are involved in nearly 3 in 4 drug overdose deaths, and dependence can happen in just five days."
